01The brief

A real brief, anonymised. This is how a briefing reaches us before a team starts work.

Briefing

"We need fresh content every week for eight weeks: video, social, a few photos. We just do not know who makes it or how we sustain it."

Challenge
An SME owner wanted a continuous content stream for opening a second location — without hiring in-house or booking an agency.
Context
Fits semester 2 (AD field project). The duo works partly on site with the partner, partly in the campus studio.
02The team

Two students, one producer, no long ramp-up.

AD projects run with small, hands-on teams. No strategic overhead — but a producer who guards rhythm and quality.

  • 1 student

    Maker

Camera, edit, photo. Works on location and delivers export-ready material.

  • 1 student

    Maker / direction

Second camera, direction, social publishing. Responsible for weekly planning.

  • 1 lecturer

    Producer

Process oversight, quality, final accountability to the client.

CoachingWeekly 30-minute stand-up, one central contact and a shared view of what must be ready when. No endless status emails.

03The work week

Shoot Monday, edit Tuesday, publish Wednesday.

An AD work week feels more like a production agency than a lecture hall. Short cycles, hard deadlines, visible results.

  1. Mon

Shoot day on location at the partner

  2. Tue

    Edit + colour correction

  3. Wed

    Publication + analytics check

  4. Thu

    Briefing next week + research

  5. Fri

    Stand-up + retrospective with client

Rhythm varies per project — this is a typical work week.

04Voices

"I thought it would be messy. It became professional."

Sander — Entrepreneur, hospitality (partner)

"They were on the doorstep six hours after the brief with a shot list. By week two the routine was already there."

Joran — AD student, semester 2

"It feels like a real job, only with more room to fail. That is where I learn most."

Ms De Vries — Producer / lecturer

"An AD duo is not half a bachelor. It is a different craft — faster, hands-on, smaller."

07Honest check

CB graduates are both strategic and hands-on. They think ahead, take initiative and understand how brands, media and people connect.

Good match

  • +You have a concrete production brief, not a strategy discussion.
  • +You can reserve a fixed weekly slot for briefing and feedback.
  • +You are fine with the team of students working differently than an agency would.
  • +You want to see how makers are trained now — meet talent before they graduate.

Less suitable

  • You need long-running strategy or research — bachelor or master fits better.
  • You need broadcast-level production with daily quality control.
  • You cannot respond to material weekly within 24 hours.
  • You want an agency-level pitch and creative process upfront.
